Avaya는 새롭게 공개된 Google Enterprise Professional과 어바이어의 커뮤니케이션 제품들간의 연동을 지원할 계획이라고 발표하였다. 어바이어는 Google Apps Premier Edition의 웹 어플리케이션, 특히 Google Talk Network를 위한 VoIP 기술을 제공할 것이고, 올 가을 이내 상용화를 목표로 한다.
이번 결합은 Nortel과 Microsoft가 체결한 계약과 비슷한 내용을 담고 있으며 기업 내부 오피스 사용자들 사이의 커뮤니케이션을 위한 Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007를 견제하기 위한 목적으로 풀이된다. collaboration을 강조하는 Microsoft Office 2007의 도입과 더불어 VoIP와 오피스 스위트의 통합 역시 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 기업 사무 처리에 VoIP를 도입하면 비용 절감을 넘어서 경영 프로세스의 통합을 이끌어낼 수 있으므로 기업들은 장기적 관점에서 기존 설비를 업그레이드하여 사무 어플리케이션과 통합된 VoIP 시스템의 도입을 고려하는 편이 낫다.
